The Winona Police department has announced the hiring of a new patrol officer. Deputy Chief Paul Bostrack said Officer Bridget Joyce was sworn in Monday, bringing the total number of officers on the force to 39. Joyce has spent the past two years with the Deep Haven, Minnesota police department. Bostrack said Officer Joyce will now undergo 10 weeks of field training and upon completion will work the night shift on patrol. According to Bostrack, Joyce's hiring fills the vacancy left by the death of Investigator Art Petroff. Bostrack said Joyce was selected from among nearly 50 applicants.
