Korean court officals visit Winona County courts
A group of Korean judges and court administration officials are visiting Winona County. The group of four judges and four court officials are here as part of day and a half visit to observe how the state court jury system works. They will also visit with district court judges and county prosecutors about the judges' role in a jury trial and how oral arguments are used. Korea has just recently adopted a jury system using the U.S. as a model for trial procedures. The visit is being facilitated by the National Center for State Courts International Visitor program. While in Winona, the delegation hopes to sit in on a jury trial, talk with court staff about using oral arguments and the judge's role in presiding over jury trials.
