Remember to "fall back" this weekend
Well we finally get that hour of sleep back this weekend. We fall back to Central Standard Time as of 2:00 a.m. November 1. In 2005, Congress passed an energy bill that included extending daylight saving time by about a month. The change starts the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November. You've probably wondered why we mess with Father Time like this. Originally the rationale for doing so was to save energy. Repeated studies have found no conclusive evidence that shifting the clock results in using less energy for electrical lighting or that it increases worker productivity. Although first proposed by Benjamin Franklin in the late 1700's, Daylight Savings Time was not written into federal law until 1918. So remember to turn your clock back one hour before bedtime Saturday night.
