WSU's Howell Hall falls victim to the wrecking ball
A piece of Winona State University history has been reduced to rubble. A backhoe turned Howell Hall to a pile of bricks and twisted steel Thursday morning. The building had most recently housed the Mass Communication Department's television studios. Former Mass Comm Professor Dennis Pack taught the television curriculum at the University for 25 years. Pack wasn't present when the backhoe began to whack away at the bricks and mortar. He said after working in the building for so many years before his retirement it would be too hard to witness. The site will be turned into green space. Several other construction projects continue on campus including the building of a new dormitory and the expansion of McCown Hall for a new wellness and fitness center.
