Levee Park group to meet Tuesday

The Levee At Main Task Force is scheduled to meet Tuesday to discuss their plans to revitalize Levee Park. The group will discuss plans for a structure to replace the Julius C. Wilkie Steamboat Center which has fallen into serious disrepair. The Winona City Council voted in August to have the structure torn down sometime after March 31. An idea proposed by the task force would replace the Wilkie with a steamboat/river history museum and banquet facility. Whatever the group decides, it must act quickly. The city council has hinted they will examine razing the Wilkie as early as next week. The Levee At Main Task Force will meet in the Misato Room at Winona City Hall beginning at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday.
